The Finance, Strategy & Analytics team is responsible for providing data-driven insights to inform strategic, financial, and operational decision-making across the company. We’re seeking a Finance, Strategy & Analytics Associate to work with the Financial Technology leadership team, generating insights for business planning and strategic projects. This role offers exposure to senior leadership and the chance to enhance shareholder value in a fast-growing environment.
Ideal candidates have a history of delivering results, taking ownership, and strong business judgment, with skills in problem solving, recommendation delivery and attention to detail.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Be a thought partner to business stakeholders and drive strategic decision making in a fast paced environment
- Define and build financial forecasts, dashboards and metrics that track business performance
- Support the budgeting and forecasting for Toast’s P&L
- Analyze variances between actuals and forecast and use insights to iterate on forecasts and build/discuss potential action plans with cross-functional customers
- Build sophisticated financial models and synthesize outputs into concise presentations to drive executive decision making processes
- Use SQL and BI tools to automate reporting and generate insights that will allow business leaders to quickly and accurately see how our business is performing
- Assist in any ad-hoc analyses and deep dives into strategic issues to improve the collective understanding of risks and opportunities related to the business
- Communicate clearly, knowledgeably and transparently with cross-functional stakeholders to build trusted relationships and enhance business outcomes
- Proactively and reactively develop and address business questions through investigation/data forensics
- Continuously look at opportunities to optimize processes and models used, to provide more timely and relevant insights across our business
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years of strategic finance, investment banking, business intelligence and/or data analytics experience
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills. Ability to build robust financial models used by teams throughout the company to size opportunities and build business cases for pursuing new initiatives
- Experience with data visualization
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills amongst a range of audiences
- Positive attitude, high attention to detail, collaborative, and comfort in working in a matrix organization
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, and evolving environment
- Effective project management skills; highly organized, independent, and self-motivated
Special Sauce* (Nice to Haves)
- Proficient in SQL or experience with BI tools
- Background building interactive dashboards in a tool such as Hex, Looker, Tableau, Domo, SiSense, etc
